Devastating Update on Cargo Plane Incident: Death Toll Increases to 13

The total count of victims resulting from the freight aircraft which burst into flames and went down has now climbed to 13, per latest announcements.

City Leader's Remarks

While en route to the Union’s memorial service, I learned of a 13th person that lost their life as a consequence of the aircraft incident,” wrote the city mayor in a social media post. “My thoughts are with the loved ones, companions and peers of all who were killed in this recent tragedy. We will endure this together.”

Victims Confirmed

A statement from the carrier identified the flight crew operating the jet as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies go out to all UPSer who has been affected and everyone in our community area – assisting you and ensuring you obtain the support and assistance you need is our priority,” the firm’s message stated.

Probe Updates

Federal officials revealed that the freight aircraft’s port side wing caught fire and an power plant fell off just after liftoff from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, resulting in the plane to plummet and explode into a fireball.

The safety agency announced it is probing the aircraft’s maintenance history, that was in Texas for maintenance a period ahead of the crash.

Flight tracking records revealed the jet was on the ground in that location from early September to last week.

“We are knowledgeable that this jet was located in that city,” said an investigator on the following day, without providing a exact time frame. “We will review each aspect of service that was completed, including the San Antonio time, all the way to the day of the journey.”

Recovery of Key Evidence

The pilot’s recorder and information unit were recovered, and the motor was discovered on the airfield.

The recorders – known as black boxes – were constructed to survive crash impacts and severe temperatures from fires, and they looked to be in one piece when located amid the crash debris. Authorities will reviewing data from the recorders.

Aircraft’s concluding data recordings displayed an height of 475 feet and a velocity of 210 mph ahead of the accident.

Service Record

Based on aviation authority files from last month, a fracture on a structural piece inside the tank area needed fixes.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies airframe maintenance for the carrier’s jet and runs a service location in that city, chose not to provide remarks, but stated it would work closely when officials contacted it.

Operations Continue

At the same time, the facility services continued Wednesday night with its Next Day Air or night sort process, official Jim Mayer confirmed. All three tarmacs at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were also open again.

The sorting center in this location is the organization’s biggest. The hub employs more than 20,000 people in the area, manages three hundred aircraft daily and processes in excess of a huge volume of packages each hour.

Public Response

A memorial was organized on the evening of 6 November by the area Teamsters Union, which acts for workers at the Louisville airport, the company’s biggest freight center.

The union chapter, which supports UPS workers, began the memorial with a quiet tribute at that time, the approximate hour of the incident two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so sudden, so unexpected,” the mayor addressed the assembly of attendees. “No one had a chance to bid farewell to each of those who we have lost.”
